Reading About Solar Over Break

We have built the core of a solar tracker, and now we need to put the icing on the cake, or the… solar on the tracker… erm…

cough

Your classmates did an excellent job organizing a huge amount of material on solar trackers. We could, in truth, do an entire directed reading/self-study on solar trackers and solar energy, so please do not feel bad that we cannot focus on everything they found in-depth. I would encourage you to use their findings as a resource, however, as they did find some really great materials.

  1. Read their summaries. The summaries provided by your colleagues are great; start with those.

  2. How To Tab Solar Cells. There are many videos on this subject. I found this one to be reasonably straight-forward.

  3. Parallel vs. Series. Next, get into your head the parallel vs. series question. This is how solar cells, batteries, and all other power sources work in parallel vs. series. (Searching for “parallel vs. series batteries” will find other sources; for example, this is another good explanation you might study.)

We’ll tab some cells next week, and

Please remember to bring your laptops next week as well.
